How to install DOCman?

DOCman 1.5

There are brief simple instructions contained within the README.php file that read like so:

  1. Install DOCman using Joomla's component installer.
  2. If you're new to DOCman, we highly recommend you click the 'Add sample data'-button.
  3. Review the configuration settings and save.
  4. Several add-ons such as some DOCman modules, DOClink and the DOCman search bot are installed with DOCman 1.5.x

  4. To use the integrated search, install the optional search mambot and publish it.
For the unexperienced Joomla! user its still an easy process:
  • Turn on 1.0.x legacy mode!
  • To turn on legacy mode in Joomla! 1.5:
  • login to your backend administrator panel, goto: Extensions -> Plugins
    • Locate the plugin "System - Legacy" tick the box to the left of it in the top right, click "Enable"
    • You should now see in the menu along the top a small joomla icon with some text saying "Legacy: 1.0" If this is the case you may now install DOCman.

Now install the component:

  • Click 'Extensions' > 'Install/Uninstall'
  • Browse to you DOCman package on your computer
  • Click upload
  • If you're new to DOCman, we highly recommend you click the 'Add sample data'-button.
