You can add 'pdf' to the list of viewable filetypes (DOCman configuration -> Frontend tab -> Extensions for viewing)

The problem with PDF''s is that it depends on the browser your site visitors have, and whether they have a PDF plugin installed. So even if it works on your system, it might not work on someone else's system.
