How to report bugs?

Date added: 09 February 2012 Last revised: 09 February 2012 Hits:

Reporting bugs can all be done on the forums. We suggest you post within the most relevant forum and our support engineers will move the post upon spotting a potential bug.

Before posting, please search the forum including the bug report forum beacause it may have been reported already.

Bug report forum information

The bug reports forum is a closed forum in that it will allow discussion of bugs but not actual posting of bugs to it, this is done to cut down on invalid bugs and support requests being confused with actual real-world bugs. We (staff) monitor the forums closely and will move any bug related post we find to the Bug Reports forum, the only time we will not do this is in the event the bug is already within the forum - we will simply post a referral link in such cases.

The Bug Reports forum makes use of several 'tags' within topic title's to identify the bugs status, the tags currently in use as well as their meaning are:

  • [NEW] - This is a new bug and as yet has not been confirmed
  • [CONFIRMED] - The bug reported has been tested by one of the Joomlatools staff and has been confirmed as a reproduce-able and valid bug.
  • [CANT REP] - This bug has been tested and we have been unable to reproduce the bug.
  • [INFO REQ] - We require further information before we are able to begin processing the bug
  • [NOT A BUG] - This is not a bug but the product performing in the expected manner or we have been unable to reproduce the issue for an extended period of time.
  • [FIXED: version] - This bug has been fixed, the version number will change dependent on the version it's fixed within.
  • [NO FIX] - This bug will not be fixed for whatever reason is stated within the post, some example's include backward's compatibility, breaking existent extension's, too large of a change needed.

Please remember to include as much information as possible when submitting any bugs. Reporting bugs in an effective and efficient manner will not only help the development team find and fix any faults quickly but also help you get the fixes you need quickly!
